Game Instructions

Overview

Approximately one third of the players are randomly chosen as spies; the rest are members of the Resistance. The spies know who the other spies are, but Resistance members do not.

The game consists of up to five missions.

Aim of Resistance: Get 3 'SUCCEED' missions.

Aim of Spies: Get 3 'FAIL' missions.

Each mission has a leader. The leader proposes a mission team of a certain size (see The Mission below), which the group approves by public vote. Approve to 'GO-AHEAD' with mission or 'DENIED' to cancel the mission. If the group does not approve the mission by a simple majority, leadership passes to the next player. (Note: a 'DENIED' is not a 'FAIL'.) If the group cannot approve a mission team for four attempts, the fifth attempt will be automatically approved.

Once a mission team is chosen, the members of this team votes by secret ballot whether the mission 'SUCCEED' or 'FAIL'.

Resistance members will always vote 'SUCCEED', but spies have the option of voting for 'SUCCEED' or 'FAIL'.

It usually only takes one 'FAIL' vote on the mission team to FAIL a mission, but sometimes the fourth mission requires two.

Each player will be given an action card that can be used when the player is the leader (details on the card).

The most IMPT RULE: You are allowed to say anything, to any one, at any time -- as long as it is said publicly.

Note: (*) Numbers with * requires two Mission 'FAIL' votes for the mission to fail.

Possible Action Cards

Action cards can only be used once throughout the game.

  • Show your role: Choose a person to show your role to.
  • Show me your role (left): See the role of the person on your left. Only you can see it.
  • Show me your role (right): See the role of the person on your right. Only you can see it.
  • Show another another's role: Choose a player to show his/her role to another player. Neither can be yourself.
  • Vote First: Activate this card on someone, that player has to vote first for every mission (whether to agree or disagree with the group of people selected by the leader.
  • Vote converter: Covert a vote from 'GO-AHEAD' to 'DENIED' or vice-versa.
  • Plant a Bug: To be played before the voting of 'SUCCEED' or 'FAIL'. Pick a player to see whether the player votes 'SUCCEED' or 'FAIL'.
  • I must go: The leader have no choice but to pick you on a mission.
  • Skip: Skips the player that is currently the leader. The next player is the leader now. The 'DENIED' count of the mission is not increased.
  • NO!: Deny an Action Card. The effect of the denied card will not be played.
